learn to trust yourself again

Intuitive Eating Therapy

in Tampa and across FL

  • You are so used to following on a diet plan that you have no idea how to make independent choices for yourself

  • You can’t remember the last time you ate something because it’s what you wanted vs what you were “supposed to” have

  • You worry that you might gain weight if you stop the diet cycle

  • You are afraid that if you let yourself have what you want, that you will never stop eating

  • You recognize that none of the above is actually working and you want something different (even if you don’t know what that is)

You may be experiencing some (or all!) of the following:

You have been out of touch with your natural instincts for so long that you are not sure how to get back. You feel unhappy with your body and feel stuck.

And most importantly…

the culture we live in promotes an unhealthy obsession with micro-managing our body.

It directly teaches us that we cannot trust our internal cues, and tells us that the next diet plan or lifestyle change is the key to “fixing” what is wrong with us

The good news is that there is nothing wrong with you and you absolutely can get back to a place of trusting your body. That doesn’t mean that it is going to be perfect (because that does not exist) or easy (because the culture we live in loves to tell us that we can’t trust ourselves), but I can say with 100% certainty that it is worth it.

I’m also here to tell you that your body doesn’t need to be fixed. What you may need is some guidance on how to get back in touch with what your individual body needs. You can live a life free from food and body obsession and be able to focus on what truly matters to you. As I Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor in Tampa, I can help guide you in a way that feels right for you and your body.

Intuitive Eating Therapy Can put you back in the drivers seat

  • Yes, Intuitive Eating is a methodology to learning about how to make peace with food, your body, and movement. BUT - it isn’t a rigid plan that tells you exactly what to eat and how to move. Instead, it is an exploration of why we feel this way about food and our bodies, and how to move forward in a new way that is sustainable and unique to our own individual needs.

Together, we will explore how you got here (messaging and all), how to unlearn what you have been taught, and how to learn new ways to navigate these important areas of your life.

  • Expect that you will be in the driver’s seat and get to make choices for your life. YOU are the expert on you and we can work together to help you figure out what your relationship with food and body will look like from here on out. You can expect a compassionate, judgement-free zone with both time to process and time to gain new skills to help you go the distance.

  • Intuitive Eating is a stepping stone to getting your life back. Are you spending massive amounts of time fighting with yourself over what to eat? Are you constantly judging what you put in your mouth and feel anxiety around this? Do you feel crappy about your body and think that this can never get any better? If any of these feel true to you, you are in the right place.

Intuitive Eating therapy can help you figure out the how/when/where/why of making choices around food, and ways to gain deeper understanding into why you feel the way you do about your body.

Ultimately, what matters most is this:

You are capable of ditching the stories you have heard about food and your body and write your own next chapter.

What we’ll work on

With Intuitive Eating, you can…

Understand a whole new way of looking at our relationship with our food, our bodies and diet culture. The truth is that many people need extra help to take the next steps that are unique to them. Many clients that I work with have experienced trauma around food and their bodies that can be explored in the therapeutic setting (ie I can help you you talk through and process this stuff without you needing to do it on your own).

It is also important to note that Intuitive Eating is NOT the hunger/fullness diet (a common pitfall that new IE-ers might run into). Working with a therapist while exploring this is a great way to ensure you aren’t falling into this space of this being another “plan to follow.”

It is important for you to know that I have lived experience in these areas.  I was also stuck in a cycle of chronic dieting for more years than I would like to count. I struggled and fought to break this cycle, and feel an immense amount of joy helping others do the same. I will not take you farther than I have gone myself. In addition to my lived experience and Clinical Social Work training, I am also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. If we work together we will utilize a HAES (Health at Every Size), anti-diet, social justice oriented and fat-positive approach to working through your relationship to food and your body.

Things I won’t do while we work together

  • Tell you that I am the expert (you are the expert of your own body and story)

  • Tell you that you need to lose weight

  • Judge you or your story (believe me – nothing you can say will surprise me)

  • Decide how fast we need to go

Here, you can learn to trust yourself again.

Questions?

FAQs

  • Intuitive eating therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your relationship with food, your body, and your inner world. It's about unlearning diet culture, tuning back into your body’s wisdom, and healing the mental and emotional layers tied to eating. You’re not broken—your body’s cues are still in there. Therapy helps you access them again, safely and compassionately.

  • Dieting tells you what, when, and how much to eat—often in rigid, one-size-fits-all rules. Intuitive eating reconnects you to your internal cues: hunger, fullness, satisfaction, emotional needs, and more. It’s about honoring your body, not controlling it. No more measuring, restricting, or obsessing—just freedom and trust.

  • Maybe, maybe not. Intuitive eating is weight-inclusive, meaning we focus on your well-being—not the number on the scale. Some people lose weight, some gain, some stay the same. The goal is not weight manipulation, but healing your relationship with food and body. When that happens, your body finds its natural balance.

  • It can mean that—but it’s not all it is. Intuitive eating includes permission to eat all foods, but also includes attunement, self-care, and honoring how different foods make you feel physically and emotionally. It’s about balance, not chaos.
