What is a Therapy Intensive?
A therapy intensive is a focused, short-term approach where you engage in extended sessions—anywhere from 90 minutes to 6 hours per day—over one or more days. Instead of the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly therapy, intensives allow you to stay with the work long enough to go deeper, uncover root causes, and experience meaningful shifts in a shorter amount of time.
For highly sensitive adults who think deeply, feel intensely, and lose momentum between weekly sessions, intensives offer the uninterrupted emotional space needed for genuine transformation.
Is traditional, weekly therapy not progressing in the way you hoped?
Therapy intensives can condense weeks or months of progress into a concentrated window, helping you:
Go beyond surface-level coping
Address the deeper emotional roots of your struggles
Build clarity and self-compassion
Create shifts that last
This approach is especially powerful for those who struggle with messages you received from family, the world around you, or diet culture and want to break free from long-standing patterns.
If you’ve been in therapy before and felt like you were circling the same patterns—overthinking, self-criticism, anxiety, body image distress, people-pleasing, perfectionism, trauma responses, or emotional overwhelm—you’re not alone.
Why Combine Brainspotting & IFS?
Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems (IFS) work beautifully together, especially for highly sensitive people who feel emotions in both the body and mind.
Brainspotting helps you access and release stored emotional and somatic (aka what you feel in your body) tension—the kind that talk therapy alone often can’t reach. It’s grounding, regulating, and incredibly effective for trauma, anxiety, and chronic self-criticism.
IFS (Internal Family Systems) helps you understand and tend to the protective, overwhelmed, or wounded parts of yourself with compassion and curiosity. It brings clarity, self-trust, and healing to those stories inside shaped by past experiences.
Together, you get both depth and integration—processing what’s been stuck and building a calmer, more compassionate relationship with yourself. Many clients experience breakthroughs that were unreachable in shorter, weekly sessions.
FAQ About Brainspotting & IFS Intensives
-
Brainspotting and IFS Therapy Intensives offer a powerful, accelerated approach to healing by condensing the work of multiple weeks of therapy into just hours or days. Instead of the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly sessions, intensives create uninterrupted space to go deeper—helping you move through trauma, perfectionism, self-doubt, anxiety, or long-standing patterns with greater clarity and momentum. Sessions typically last 90 minutes to 4 hours at a time, often scheduled over one or several consecutive days, allowing you to address the root of your concerns without losing progress between appointments. This focused format can significantly reduce the total number of sessions needed overall and helps you feel better sooner.
-
Regular therapy sessions can sometimes feel interrupted due to their shorter time frame - especially when you find yourself taking a chunk of session time “catching up” about the previous week’s events.
Intensives give you unbroken time and space to continue to explore relevant information without running out of time. We can continue to go down the “rabbit hole” of related symptoms and try to make more relevant connections to help you heal.
-
During our free consultation call we will discuss what your unique needs are and come up with our Intensive plan.
This typically includes:
Intake session (1 hour) - to gather relevant information and make a plan for what you would like to work on
Intensive session(s) - where we do the work! These sessions range from 90 minutes to 4 hours at a time (with breaks for longer sessions). These can be anywhere from 1 day to multiple days.
Follow Up (1 hour) - during this session we will review what you learned and what would be helpful moving forward. You will receive personalized strategies to help you absorb and apply what we’ve worked on, and we’ll discuss next steps for continued support, whether that’s additional therapy, intensives, or work that you can do on your own.
Intensives can be scheduled on weekends, weekdays, and weekday evenings (prices might vary depending on day/time).

There are a few different reasons that you might choose to do a Brainspotting & IFS Intensive! This could be because:
You only have a small amount of time in your schedule and the timing of Intensives makes more sense for you.
You aren’t sure that you can pay out of pocket for weekly therapy sessions but feel more comfortable making an investment for a shorter period of time.
You are seeing a regular therapist for weekly/bi-monthly/monthly sessions and want a few more intensive sessions to get to the bottom of some of your negative core beliefs/stressors/traumas, etc, to be continued in your regular work.
You have tried regular therapy sessions before and didn’t have the results that you were hoping for.
-
Absolutely! I love coordinating care with other therapists (or other providers such as dietitians and psychiatrists) to ensure you are getting your needs met.
Intensives are set up to be either a standalone service, or to be an additional space to process in additional to other work you are doing.

The idea behind Brainspotting is that where you look (ie where your eyes gaze) has a deep impact on how you feel.
Brainspotting can help you gain insight and process things that you might not even realize were there. It helps to target traumas or other experiences and emotions at the root. Instead of utilizing our “thinking brain” (the part of the brain that uses language - like we do in traditional talk therapy), we instead tap right into parts of our brain that hold onto memories, feelings, and emotional regulation. You may notice in your everyday life that you find yourself “zoned out” and staring at a specific spot on the wall or the floor. Sometimes when we do this we can give ourselves the space to really process something - and in doing so we may also be inadvertently finding what we call a “Brainspot,” or spot in our visual field that is directly tied to an experience or emotion. We can harness this to help you process a specific memory, trauma, or feeling to facilitate deep healing and relief.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a transformative approach that can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
IFS is a compassionate approach to healing and self-discovery that views each person as made up of different parts. Just like a family is made up of individuals who have unique roles and personalities, our own inner world consists of various parts, each with its own emotions, beliefs, and motivations.
IFS uses a “bottom up” approach, which basically means we are getting out of our logical (or cognitive) brain and into our more emotional brain. We do this by allowing ourselves to truly be “in” our bodies (something you might not be used to and might even feel scary - but that is normal!) and understand our deep internal experiences. Many traditional talk therapies do their work from the more logical brain, and although you might experience some temporary relief from that work, Clients often tell me that it is short-lived and is not a long term solution to the struggles that they are experiencing.

More FAQS About Therapy Intensives
-
Intensives are a premium service - fees are higher than weekly session due to prep work, intensity, and the scheduling flexibility that is needed to make intensives work. This is a very high value service and the fees reflect that!

Both! I have an office in the Tampa area (Carrollwood) that I love seeing Clients in, but also enjoy working with people via HIPAA compliant telehealth. Offering online services allows me to connect with Clients who aren’t in my backyard!
*You must be a FL resident to access telehealth services.

Insurance may cover part of the cost depending on your out-of-network benefits. I’m an out-of-network provider, but many clients are able to get partial reimbursement by submitting a detailed invoice (also called a superbill) to their insurance company. I recommend checking with your insurance provider to see what your out-of-network mental health benefits include and what’s needed for reimbursement. If you have questions about the process, I’m happy to walk you through it and provide any documentation you’ll need!
